Nara has a long history and features ancient tombs and other
historic treasures, including, Todaiji Temple housing a
great image of Buddha, colorful
Kasuga Shrine with 3,000 lanterns and Deer Park
where many tame deer roam around.
Todaiji Temple: It
is one of Japan's most famous and historically significant temples and a
landmark of Nara.
Todaiji was constructed in 752 as the head temple of Buddhist temples of Japan, is world's largest wooden building, even though the present reconstruction of 1692 is only two thirds of the original temple's size.

Kasuga Taisha :

It is famous for its many lanterns which were donated by worshippers. The many bronze lanterns within the shrine and the hundreds of stone lanterns lining the shrine's approach are lit on the occasion of the Lantern Festivals. |

The deer are very tame, and quite cheeky begging for food. |
